Marcel (16) is enrolled in the first year of high school and attending special courses called "TIP" - Technology and Industrial Production - and after completion, hopes for a future job within the oil industry. We meet him to ask some questions about his life so far, and the future ahead of him.

- Kind, helpful and focussed

These are the three words Marcel uses to describe himself. Marcel has at the same time a relaxed attitude towards life, and is not afraid of smaller or bigger challenges arising.

- Accept things as they are, and make the best out of the situation

If someone tries to provoke Marcel in any ways, they will meet a relaxed and calm response. It will only make the situation worse if one gets provoked by negative reactions, says Marcel. That is why Marcel also has not been particularly affected by any social difficulties whatsoever. He has many friends and everyone that meets Marcel, learn to like him quickly. Marcel is a calm and relaxed boy, with faith in himself and others.

- I like speed and excitement, but it must be safe

Marcel began at an early age racing with go-karts. He started participating in competitions and has travelled around locally and elsewhere in the country in connection with races. But this is also a sport that requires top physics and health. As Marcel started in high school, it was therefore less and less time available to maintain the high level of focus such a sport requires. Moreover, there are also risks such as accidents and injuries occuring. I am therefore concerned about security, not only when I race, but also when I am a passenger with other people driving, says Marcel.

At 16 years Marcel has now started to practice driving, and he is excited to get his own car once he completes the driver licence courses and exams. Although he likes the place he currently lives, he is also open to travel elsewhere in the future.

And travelling is probably something Marcel will have plenty of opportunities doing once he gets his driver license. Also, with his long term driving and racing experience, both him and his passenger can be well assured to arrive safely at whatever destination he chooses.

- There is less homework now than in junior high school

In high school Marcel now feel that it almost has been less schoolwork than it was in junior high school. Now, there are also several subjects that are specialized and customized to Marcel's own interests. He especially enjoys a subject where he gets the opportunity to draw on the computer with the software Solid Edge. This is both easy and fun - with fairly little training, you can create detailed artwork, says Marcel, who in addition to computer studies at school, also plays computer games and keep in touch with friends on the Internet.

- I am very satisfied with my life, and feel that I'm doing exactly what I want, both at school and in my free time

Marcel is quite occupied with both friends and family, which also includes spending time together with his three brothers, that he also has agreed to meet after the interview with Spree Magazine is over.

Marcel has not experienced any particular challenges in relation to being gay. He is more than happy to tell if someone asks about this, and is otherwise committed to being honest and open with himself and all others who come into his life.

- Success for me is to have a good life, many friends and a boyfriend - but also take life easy and not stress or worry if there is something you do not get to do, Marcel adds.
